Skin Resurfacing: What Are Your Options?

Editorial¦ As the years go by, one thing is certain. Your skin ages. It ages because of hormonal alterations that take place naturally inside it. However, it also ages and experiences damage from various other sources. Considering how much it is exposed to time after time, it is a wonder skin holds up as well as it does. It is no surprise that, no matter how well you take care of it, you may eventually need clinical intervention to help it stay healthy. Skin resurfacing is one technique you can use to regain skin health, but techniques for skin resurfacing vary a lot.

Lockdown Nursery Homeschool: Week 2

Well, this post has taken some time to write up as Autumn has been so full on and I’ve had so many headaches over the last couple of weeks! As well as that, I just haven’t had any blogging mojo. As such, I took an extended break from all things blogging over the Easter weekend.  I hope you’ve had a good Easter and are well? Over the last fortnight I’ve been trying to keep my anxious mind quiet with practical things. Gardening. Tidying. Sorting. I digress…

I can’t lie, after a week of lockdown, we really didn’t manage to keep our second week of homeschool as structured as the first! But, you know what? I’m cool with it. I’m finding that as well as keeping structure in some respects, we also need to go with the flow. This is a weird experience for all of us. Autumn has still been enjoying Apple Class, though, and is eager to start most mornings! Here’s what we did over the second week of nursery homeschool (timings are approximate):

Practical Parenting – Getting your kids to take care of their teeth

Collaborative Post¦ Teaching your children to look after their teeth from an early age is critical. This seems obvious. But it is clear from Public Health England (PHE) statistics that many parents are struggling to do this. In the UK, every month, dentists are having to extract around 1,000 rotten teeth from kids who are aged under six.

Studies show that children who are taught to take care of their teeth, from an early age, have better dental health as adults. Because childhood dental health is such an important subject, we are going to explore ways of getting your kids to look after their teeth in this article – if you’re in the Surrey area, check out Weybridge dental practice.

Why Feeding Your Family Dog Raw Makes Sense

Collaborative Post¦ Pet owners have their own thoughts and preferences on a lot of different things. Some believe that having their animals professionally trained is the only way to go, and other pet owners believe that it is best to do all the training themselves. There are pet owners who make every single meal for their pets from scratch, with another group of animal lovers choosing to purchase all of their pooch’s meals. So, how can a person definitively know why feeding the family dog raw food makes sense? Well, a dog owner simply has to follow their gut and do what they feel is in the best interest of their beloved dog.

Here is why a pet lover might feel compelled to go raw.

UK lockdown in our house: Week 1

Wow, what a week it has been. From the way things were going in other countries and our own rising statistics, I thought that the UK would go into lockdown. However, things seemed to progress very quickly over a matter of days and it still came as a bit of a shock to the system. I don’t know about you, but for me this all feels very surreal still. Like a bad dream I just haven’t managed to wake up from yet. Sometimes I’m pretty chilled and just focused on what I’m doing. Then at other points, the stark reality of coronavirus and COVID-19 hits me in a bad way.

Here’s how our first week of lockdown has gone.

Lockdown Nursery Homeschool: Week 1

Well, we all survived our first week of no school! Along with others around the UK, I took my first steps into homeschooling my child on Monday. Although my daughter is only 3, I know that she needs the structure and stimulation that nursery provides her. So as soon as I found out the schools were closing due to coronavirus (COVID-19), I set about finding resources and lesson planning. Thankfully, my mum is an experienced early years TA and one of my best friends is a primary teacher. As such, I was well equipped, although lots of people have been helpfully posting many of these sites on social media! We have also been taking advantage of the various companies doing Facebook lives during lockdown. Autumn actually really enjoyed homeschool (which she named Apple Class) – and so did I!

Review: Virustatic Shield, face masks for all the family

Review – Gifted¦ I was so pleased when lockdown was finally put in place in the UK earlier this week. It was much needed to protect our NHS and the most vulnerable in our society. I hope everyone reading this is safe and well and, of course, following the rules. That isn’t to say that it isn’t without its challenges. I’m worried enough about the next time my husband goes shopping, let alone those amongst my friends and family who work in schools, retail, distribution and care work. Whichever bracket you fall into, hopefully this review will help you. Over the last couple of days, we’ve been trying out Virustatic Shield face masks to help protect us from coronavirus (COVID-19).

Bathroom design ideas for busy families!

Collaborative Post¦ One of the busiest zones in the home, family bathrooms need to be both functional and practical, as well as snazzy. A lot of the drama happens in the bathroom and many of us just need features that aren’t going to cause us any extra stress. Here are some ideas to help inspire you!

While many modern homes enjoy a luxurious en-suite, many family friendly bathrooms need to cater for all ages and be accessible to everyone in the household. Think durable and easy to maintain work surfaces, easy to use baths and showers with no dangerous sharp edges and toilets with soft-close seats! With so many practical and stylish fixtures to choose from, we can certainly have a bit of fun picking and choosing what we want.

Keeping Lost Loved Ones In Your Child’s Life

Collaborative Post¦ Welcoming new youngsters into the family fold or watching the next generation grow can be incredibly rewarding. In many ways, it’s like a glimpse into the future, a place that often seems in better little hands than the lives we live at the moment!

But, as much as welcoming youngsters into the family can feel like a spark of hope, it can also trigger some unexpected emotions, especially regarding loved ones who aren’t around to see it. This sentiment can hit especially hard if one of your parents is no longer around for the birth or development of their grandchild, but even the gaps left by grandparents or more distant relatives can become prevalent where babies are concerned.

Worse of all is often the realisation that our youngsters will never get to meet or know those all-important people. Luckily, there are ways to keep lost loved ones alive for the new generation, and we’ve put together some pointers to help you achieve it.
