Hello and welcome to my corner of the internet! I’m Laura, a 30 year old mum of two. I live near Rochester, Kent with my husband Dave, our children Autumn and Reuben and our cat, Maisie. Dave and I have been together for 14 years and married in the summer of 2015. Autumn came into the world in September 2016.
Life as Autumn’s Mummy didn’t get off to a good start. For the first fortnight of Autumn’s life, things were going fantastically until she was 14 days old. She suddenly fell ill and my instincts told me something was seriously wrong. Things developed very quickly over the course of 3 days and she ended up in the paediatric intensive care unit (PICU) at St. George’s Hospital in Tooting, London. She had open surgery at only 5 weeks old and is fortunately a happy little girl that shouldn’t be at all impacted by her rough start. You can read about what happened here.
I was severely anaemic after her birth and along with that and everything that happened, I suffered from very severe anxiety. I started this blog in January 2017 as a form of therapy and to help others who may be going through similar situations. It allowed me to process the trauma of the previous few months, as well as keeping my brain engaged. It’s also somewhere that I can document our family life. A couple of days prior to starting my blog, a health visitor casually said “Autumn’s Mummy” in a sentence at a baby group. She could never remember our names, but could remember our children’s, so would refer to us in that way in conversation. It was that moment that I realised that I had this entire new identity that I absolutely adore.
I’ve always enjoyed technology, writing and being creative in general so blogging seemed a perfect hobby for me to start whilst on maternity leave. However, Autumn’s Mummy quickly gained momentum and became more than a hobby. Very early on, I began engaging with and working with brands. I really enjoy helping businesses to promote their products and we have great fun testing various things out for reviews!
I mostly cover parenting and lifestyle topics. The latter encompasses my vast range of eclectic interests. From beauty and fashion to cars and metal, you can see a huge variety of topics covered here!
As of January 2021, the addition of baby Reuben to our family has made life a lot crazier but added even more love and adventures to the mix.
Happy reading 🙂
