What is the JamDoughnut app?

JamDoughnut is a popular cashback app that gives you instant cashback on over 150 of your favourite brands online, in-app and on the High Street. Brands you can get cashback from include supermarkets and petrol, eating out, entertainment, home and garden, health, fashion, holidays and travel. These include Amazon, Morrisons, Tesco, Costa, Toby Carvery, Just Eat, JD Sports, Cineworld, Odeon, National Express, B&M, IKEA, Argos and Eurostar UK. Cashback is boosted for supermarkets throughout September, so you can make even bigger savings on your shopping and fuel!

The average JamDoughnut user will save around £500 a year. Of course, it depends on how much you use it!

The app is free, secure and has a user-friendly interface. Plus, unlike any other cashback service I’ve seen, cashback is guaranteed and instant!

How does JamDoughnut Work?

JamDoughnut is free for you to use, but of course they have to make money. Perhaps you’re wondering how? They sell you voucher codes (we’ll go through this and how you get your cashback in a minute) for you to use at over 150 brands. In what is essentially an affiliate scheme, those brands give JamDoughnut some affiliate money – as a kind of thank you for encouraging you to shop with them. They keep some of it themselves, but pass on a percentage of it to you in the form of cashback!

How do you use JamDoughnut?

  1. Download the JamDoughnut app
  2. Register on the app
  3. Enter the referral code RCAM to get a free £2!
  4. Choose where you want to shop/eat and how much you’re going to spend. Although you can pay with Google Pay or Apple Pay, you get the most points when you use your banking app to pay for vouchers.
  5. Purchase a pre-paid voucher for that brand using JamDoughnut

You’ve just got your first cashback earnings in your jar as well as a bonus 200 points (£2) from my referral code and can now use your digital voucher.

When you’ve got 1000 points (equivalent to £10) in your jar, you can cash out to your bank account or for a voucher! Be aware that cashing out to your bank account incurs a 30p transaction fee. Cashback can take 5 days to reach your bank account, although in my experience it was instant!

If you’re using the JamDoughnut app regularly, including for your weekly shop, it’s very quick to rack up enough points to cash out!

What I love about the JamDoughnut cashback app

Instant Cashback

It’s quite demoralising waiting for months for other cashback services to approve cashback (and it doesn’t always even get approved) and actually get to the point where you can cash out the money. This is where JamDoughnut really shines. Your cashback is guaranteed and you can see it in your jar instantly. If you’ve got enough points, you can even cash it out instantly!

The brands

There are a wide variety of brands that I regularly use, so there will be plenty of opportunities to earn cashback. There are currently over 150, but as this is a relatively new cashback service, I’m sure more and more will be added over time. Amazon is a very welcome new addition!

Pumped up deals

It’s quite exciting to go on the app and see pumped up deals where you can earn more cashback! Supermarkets are pumped up for September, so that is a deal well worth taking advantage of!

At the time of writing:

  • Aldi is pumped up from 2% to 3%
  • Asda is pumped up from 2.5% to 3%
  • Farmfoods is pumped up from 2.5% to 3%
  • Iceland is pumped up from 1% to 3.5%
  • John Lewis & Partners/Waitrose is pumped up from 2.5% to 4%
  • M&S is pumped up from 4% to 6%
  • Morrisons is pumped up from 3.5% to 4%
  • Morrisons Fuel is pumped up from 3% to 5%
  • Sainsbury’s is pumped up from 2% to 3%
  • Tesco is pumped up from 1.5% to 3%
  • Selfridges & Co is pumped up from 2% to 2.5%

Please excuse the puns, but they have definitely pumped up the jam to make your day. You could even use your cashback to get your booty on the floor tonight! Ahem…

Anyway, I’ll definitely be making the most of these deals throughout the rest of the month to do my weekly shop, buy party food and Autumn’s birthday cake and get petrol for my car.

Ease of use

The app’s user-interface is really straightforward to use and you can spot everything you need with ease. You can scroll through brands, use the search bar, or use the filters to find out what’s in different sections, what’s new, what’s pumped up and what’s trending.

Potential Negatives

The only negative I can really see is that if you don’t shop that often, it could take a while for you to reach the £10 cash out threshold. However, for most people I don’t think it would take that long to get there…especially if you use it for your weekly shops. Even more so this month with the pumped up cashbacks!

However, there are so many positives I think they far outweigh this negative.

My Experience Using JamDoughnut

Using it for the first time

I was keen to get using JamDoughnut and I immediately thought of two shops I needed things from. A birthday present for Autumn from Argos and some school uniform from Marks & Spencer. This was a last-minute panic order as she grew so much over the summer holidays!

I went on to the M&S website to take a look at what uniform we needed and what was actually left in her size (as it was now September!) I put it all in my basket and looked at the total; £44. So I went on the JamDoughnut app, found M&S and bought a pre-paid voucher with £44 on it. I chose to pay with my banking app for this to get the full 264 points (£2.64 cashback).

My e-gift card, which could be used either online or in store, arrived immediately. I read the redemption instructions and all I had to do was choose the ‘gift card’ option at the checkout online and pop in the e-gift card card number and 4 digit pin. Easy!

Using it for a trip to the supermarket

After my Argos and M&S purchases, I already had 564 points (£5.64) in my jar!

Feeling confident with what I was doing now, I decided to head to Asda. I wanted to check out the toddler clothes in the sale, their amazing Halloween homeware and do some food shopping. Please ignore the state of how things have put into the trolley – it was down to my husband and 2 year old!

When we got to the self-checkout at the end, I quickly found Asda on JamDoughnut and bought an e-voucher for £111.96 (the total of our shopping).

If you scan as you go, you can obviously do this before you get to the checkouts. However, I went at a time of day where the checkouts were quiet. The app says it can take up to 2 hours, but my e-gift card was available in JamDoughnut immediately. All I had to do was select ‘Gift Card’ on the screen at the till, scan it and voila! Shopping paid for and 335 points in my jar.

I decided to get some petrol on the way home, so headed to Morrisons as there is pumped up cashback on the app currently!

Usually, I put £20 of fuel in my car. However, I only needed 101 points in order to cash out, so I decided to buy a £21 e-gift card which would give me 105 points. I really like how easy the JamDoughnut app made it work out for me – as it shows how much cashback you’ll get depending on how much you pay for!

Cashing Out

You can cash out to your bank account for a 30p surcharge. Alternatively, you can cash out with a voucher! Vouchers are available for almost all the brands where you can get cashback from. However, some require a minimum of points to cash out with them.

I decided to cash out my 1004 points for a £10.04 Amazon voucher! I could have left the 4p there, but decided to cash the whole lot out on this occasion. It was really easy to do:

If you have a lot of points to cash out and want to get different vouchers, that would also be very straightforward. It said my Amazon gift card would be in my wallet within 2 hours, but once again it was immediately in the app ready for me to use.

Final Thoughts

The first time you use JamDoughnut, it might seem a little bit fiddly. However, it’s not at all once you know what you’re doing. It’s very easy to use and I love that you get your cashback so quickly. I’ll definitely be continuing to use JamDoughnut over other cashback sites I’ve previously been using largely for that reason. It’ll be an amazing help with Christmas coming up! I highly recommend using this app to get more for your money. I think we’re all struggling in the cost of living crisis, so this is a great way of getting your hard earned cash to stretch further.
