Love: My thoughts on it at 16 years old

What is love? It sure is something the world could do with some more of right now. I was recently going through some things on my bookshelf, when I found something I’d written when I was 16. Dated the 8th of October, I had a vague recollection of writing it in 2008, when I’d been dating my husband for almost a month. Although I’d previously had a blog, I didn’t have one at the time. Really, it kind of is a blog post, but written on paper. One of my best friends had asked me what love was, when I told her that I loved my boyfriend. She told me that she didn’t believe what I had was love, as I was only a teenager. She used examples of old couples where one has dementia and the other takes care of them as true love. While I believe that love gets stronger over time, I truly believed that what I felt at that time was love. The fact that I have now been happy with Dave for 9 years hopefully reflects that! After having the discussion we had over MSN messenger, I felt like I wanted to write about it. When I found this letter, it was interesting looking back and reflecting on my teenage thoughts about love.

Aldi Baby & Toddler Event – put this in your diary!

Okay, ‘fess up. Who else loves a good Aldi Baby and Toddler Event? I think I’ve only missed one since I found out I was pregnant with Autumn. I’d been planning to go, but I was kind of busy giving birth that morning!

The next one is tomorrow, Thursday 17th August 2017, so don’t miss out! There are lots of brilliant specialbuys for little ones, including some that I haven’t seen in my 18 months or so of attending them.

A letter to my daughter at 10 months old

Dear Autumn,

I know I’m biased, but you truly are the most beautiful little girl I’ve ever seen. You’re so perfect. I just want to squish you in a lovely big cuddle, but you wouldn’t let me. You always just want to wiggle away and get back to exploring the world! You are so into everything, it’s so exhausting chasing you around constantly, trying to keep you out of harm’s way. However, I have to remind myself that it’s such a wonderful thing that you’re clearly so intelligent and eager to learn about the world around you.

Creating a Musical Soundtrack to your Baby’s Life

I don’t often have guest posts on my blog, however I’ve made an exception once again for Lauren aka. Musical Mum as I loved her post idea. The connections that babies make with music amazes me. I often sang Twinkle Twinkle Little Star when I was pregnant with Autumn, and once she was born, she seemed to settle better to that song than others. My husband is a big fan of the American drama series, Bones. As soon as Autumn hears the theme tune, she is distracted from whatever she’s doing and looks towards the source of the sound.

Even in my own life, I know the strong connections that I’ve made to music throughout my life. The power of music is something that truly fascinates me. Anyway, over to Lauren…

10 things I love about my car

My car isn’t a Lamborghini, it isn’t my dream Land Rover Defender 110, or a beautiful classic Mini with sparkling chrome. I’m not sure whether it would be anyone’s dream car, in fact, and it isn’t perfect. It has a few little dents scattered here and there and I need to touch up some of the paintwork. However, I am very fond of my little Toyota Yaris.

6 tips for doing a boot fair with a baby in tow

I’ve recently had a huge clear out. The amount of clutter everywhere was starting to make me feel a little stressed out, so I decided to take action. I’d toyed with the idea of doing a boot fair for a couple of years, but had never got round to it. I’d also heard lots of negative things about people stealing things and trying to haggle prices to ridiculous amounts.

However, now that I have a baby in tow, it’s harder than it once would have been! I’ve put together some tips based on my experience of the boot sale that I did a few weeks ago.

10 tips to save money at the supermarket

A few years ago at the age of 20, my then fiancé, now husband, and I were saving money for a deposit for our first house. This led me to think of various ways of saving money, including when shopping in the supermarket. This continued in the first year of owning our house as at that point our combined wages were only just enough to pay the mortgage and bills, until I got another job which made things a lot more comfortable for us. However, now that I’m on maternity leave, I am having to watch the pennies again. Here are my top tips for saving money when shopping in supermarkets!
