If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you’ll know that I love championing local businesses! In fact, for a while I did a ‘local business spotlight’ in which I wrote posts about some of my favourite businesses in Gravesham and Medway highlighting what I love about them. (I am actually considering bringing this back on a bi-annual basis!) Last month, I was delighted to be approached by the lovely owners of Kidaroos to work with them. Their website is full of carefully selected, beautiful and fun toys for children of all ages. There are some really unusual things on there that you don’t see everywhere. One such toy is a gorgeous contemporary style play kitchen. Let’s take a look at it – and at the end of this post there’s also the chance to win one in a giveaway!
Contemporary Play Kitchen
Kidaroos have a fantastic range of children’s play kitchens suitable for a variety of budgets. All of them are lovely, but my personal favourite had to be the Children’s White Modern Contemporary Play Kitchen. Exclusive to Kidaroos, it’s been brought all the way over from the USA. Its beautiful simplicity would grace any room and look great on your Instagram grid. I am a sucker when it comes to wood grain and the wood used for this is stunning.
Toys like this that allow children’s imaginations to run wild are brilliant for their development! Playing with a toy kitchen helps to develop all sorts of skills, including language, social skills, numeracy and organisation. I really appreciate how the lack of buttons and sound effects on toys like this foster their imaginations too. Autumn was making her own “beep” sound effects as she switched the oven on!
Autumn loves talking to us as though we’re in a formal setting and issuing us with a menu. She delights in cooking our food, seasoning it with the salt and pepper and presenting it nicely on a plate. Of course, we’re never allowed to leave without a dessert! I’ve been pleased to see her demonstrating some good life skills too. She makes sure she washed her hands before cooking and I’ve noticed her pretend to wash up the frying pan and spatula after using them! Autumn also likes playing (supervised) with her 1 year old little brother, pretending he’s her sous chef. I’m sure he’s learning a lot too!
There is a good amount of space for storing toy food and crockery and the build quality of the kitchen feels really good. We have been having a lot of fun with it!
I can’t wait for it to have a permanent home in Autumn’s room once we’ve decorated it and jazz up the area around it. That said, it really does just look beautiful on its own!
