My first Mother’s Day

Yesterday I experienced my first Mother’s Day as a mum. I think this is a big milestone for any new mum and the day takes on a whole new meaning! I think once you become a mum, as long as you had a good relationship with your mum you appreciate her a lot more. As a mother, I also appreciate my body a lot more – it’s amazing what it does throughout pregnancy and labour.

5 steps to being happy – International Day of Happiness

Today is the International Day of Happiness, so I thought I’d reflect on how I’ve been feeling lately. Let’s face the facts: Life is stressful, terrible things happen in our world and many things just seem so awful and unfair! I know the cold, dark British winters don’t really help my mood either. However, I try to always remember that I can still feel happy despite all of these things. “How to be happy?” you ask. Well, here are my 5 tips that I follow when I feel myself getting depressed.

Our Sleep Routine – World Sleep Day

I love sleep, don’t you? Unfortunately, it’s something that most new parents are lacking in – unless you’re one of the lucky few! As it’s World Sleep Day today, I thought I’d discuss our sleep routine with 6 month old Autumn with you.

Once we got back from the hospital after her operation, we started a sleep routine (she was 6 weeks old then). From what I’ve heard, it doesn’t sound like sleep routines work with all babies and each person/couple has to tailor it to their needs. However, this is what we do:

The 90s tag – my life as a 90s kid!

I was born right at the beginning of 1992, so looking back on things from the 90s is very nostalgic for me. I miss it in many ways, even though I often wonder what on earth my mum was dressing me in! “It was nice at the time”, she tells me. I have to admit, though, I did buy myself some sparkly silver jelly shoes in River Island the year before last when they came back into fashion!

I am a 90s kid through and through, so when I saw the 90s tag blog post by Jasmine at Thoughts From Jasmine I was so excited. Then I was asked to do it in this wonderful post over at The Bits and Bobs in my Brain.

I hated my daughter's name

When you’re pregnant you spend hours looking at baby names with your partner, trying to pick the perfect one for your unborn child. My husband and I were no different; hours were spent searching the internet looking for inspiration. So, it pains me to say that for a period of time, I couldn’t stand my daughter’s name, despite the fact that I was the one who had chosen it. Hearing her name made me flinch; I felt like I wanted to change it to something else…

30 things to do before 30

As my friends keep reminding me, as I have recently turned 25 I am now closer to 30 than I am 20! Quite frankly, this kind of scares me as time seems to have gone so fast since I was 16 and seems to go quicker each year. As such, I felt the need to make a list of things I’d like to do before I turn 30. Hopefully I can achieve quite a few of these, so even if the time goes quickly, I’ll feel like I’ve achieved a lot with it!
