8 ways to soothe wisdom tooth pain in pregnancy

Collaborative Post¦ I recently wrote about the agony  I went through with wisdom tooth pain a few weeks ago. Being in the late second trimester/early third trimester of pregnancy, there wasn’t a great deal I could do to help it! Of course, if I’d had a good dentist, it wouldn’t have troubled me for as long as it did. Fortunately, I found a good one and paid to have it removed. However, for some people it’s not an option to have a wisdom tooth out during pregnancy. Indeed, dentists often prefer to wait until after your baby is born. As such, that leaves you with a lot of pain in the meantime. Here are some things you can do to help relieve it.

Baby #2: What’s in my hospital bag?

This post contains some gifted items¦ The hospital bag is always a topic of conversation between expectant mums. There are some obvious things you should pack, but there might be other things that are less apparent. At the same time, you don’t want to overpack and have too much stuff (I made this mistake when I gave birth to my daughter!) People are also unsure when to pack their bags. Personally, I started packing my bag at around 30 weeks. Due to moving house, it took me a little longer, but I’ve just completed it at 36 weeks. Even though I am now hoping to have a home birth, it feels good to have everything in one place and will be ready to just pick up and take should my baby and I need to be transferred to hospital. Let’s take a look at what I’ve packed and the size of my bags too (another common topic of discussion!)

Baby #2: Bump Pictures and Weeks 32-34

I’m going to try and update a little more regularly now that it’s coming close to eviction day! I’m trying to mentally prepare myself. Half of the time I’m worrying about whether I can do this again and how much it’s going to hurt. Somehow, having given birth before hasn’t really taken away much of my anxiety surrounding labour, even though it was a positive experience! The other half of me is just so excited and can’t wait.

What Happens to Pregnant Women in Jail?

Collaborative Post¦ One of the biggest questions surrounding women in jail centres around what happens if they are pregnant. For everything you need to know about pregnancy in jail, read on…

It’s the case that substantially fewer women go to jail compared to men – but how many of those women are pregnant? And how does that affect their sentencing?

In the UK, there are a number of rules in place that account for female prisoners who are pregnant or who have recently given birth. Yet, those rules aren’t necessarily common knowledge amongst the general public.

In recent years, awareness has slowly grown regarding the topic of pregnant women in jail thanks, in part, to a string of high-profile cases involving baby deaths inside prisons that were reported in the press. These incidents have also raised further questions regarding criminal defence for pregnant women. So, for a closer look at what happens to pregnant women in jail, keep reading…

5 ways to baby-proof your rented house

Collaborative Post¦ With only 6 weeks to go until my due date, it won’t be very long before I’m thinking about baby-proofing my home again! Every house or flat contains potential dangers that you need to protect your baby from. However, in a rented house it can be a bit more of a challenge to baby-proof things. After all, you don’t want to risk losing your deposit by making any permanent changes. As such, you’ll need to speak to your landlord before making any holes in walls!

Do NHS dentists actually care about their patients?

Over the last 10 years or so, I’ve had some experiences with NHS dentists that have not been particularly favourable. Nothing major, but enough to change between NHS dentists near me in the hope of improving my experiences. However, it hasn’t helped. Last month, I had absolutely terrible wisdom tooth pain (particularly not ideal whilst pregnant). This resulted in my worst experience yet, which led to me going to a private dentist. It’s left me wondering if NHS dentists actually care about their patients or if it all comes down to money.
