Half-term fun in the sun at Hever Castle

Gifted & contains sponsored link¦ We didn’t go to Hever Castle at all last year due to a combination of the pandemic and me being pregnant with our rainbow baby. I think the last time we went was Christmas 2019 and I missed it so much! It is without a doubt one of the best places to visit in Kent for a day out. Therefore, when I could see that sun was finally forecast for the late May bank holiday weekend, I knew exactly what I wanted to do! Fortunately, Hever Castle’s online booking system made it very easy to book a slot. We chose a morning one to allow us to make the most of the day-and what a glorious day it was!

Starting University as a Parent

Collaborative Post¦ Most people start their undergraduate degree when they’re around 18 or a little later. By this time, some may already be parents, but the majority of people aren’t. However, the older you get, the more likely it is that you’re going to have children. So if you’re contemplating university a little later in life, or you’re already a parent in your late teens, you might need to consider how you would fit studying around being a parent. Juggling going to university and parenting responsibilities is no easy feat, but it could be well worth the effort to boost your education and your earning potential.

Finding out baby’s gender: Damned if you do, damned if you don’t

TRIGGER WARNING: Miscarriage¦ Not long after I became pregnant with Autumn in early 2016, I found that some people have VERY strong opinions on everything to do with children. And not just their own children, they like to tell you what you should be doing with yours too. One of my earliest experiences of this was during a discussion about whether I was going to find out Autumn’s gender or not…

Reopening of Showcase Cinema de Lux Bluewater

Collaborative Post (Gifted)¦ What was the last ‘normal’ thing you did before the lockdown at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic? For us, it was going to see Zog  and The Highway Rat at Showcase Cinemas de Lux Bluewater last March! It seems a lifetime ago now. Although cinemas opened again for a while last year, I was heavily pregnant with Reuben and largely self-isolating. Therefore, with the re-opening of cinemas this week it almost felt like we’d come full circle when we went to see Peter Rabbit 2 yesterday.

Spinning all the plates

I remember my mum saying “There’s not enough time in the day!” when I was growing up. I always just looked at her, thinking what a ridiculous phrase that was. There were 24 hours in a day, how was that not a long time? As a child, the days seemed terribly long. Especially days that consisted of both maths and PE! Well, I’m sorry mum, because you were right. It’s 12:18am as I write this and once again, I ran out of time yesterday to get everything done. I am constantly chasing my tail, trying to keep all the plates spinning. In fact, it’s a bit of a worry with pandemic restrictions easing. How am I going to manage additional plates that come my way?
