Review: My First Photo Book

Autumn loves looking at photographs of family around the room, in albums and on my phone. She smiles at the familiar faces, says who they are and prods at them. Of course, the problem with this is that all of these things are breakable and potentially harmful. I was recently asked to review the newly launched “My First Photo Book” by Photobox. This seemed like a great way of providing Autumn with photos of those most special to her in an appropriate format for her.

Ease of ordering

Ordering the photo book from Photobox’s website was really intuitive and fast. The part that took the longest was finding the photos I wanted to put in the book! I went for photos of family, but of course you could put whatever you wanted in there. You could make a memory book of firsts for example!

I liked that there were several options for customisation, such as coloured pages and/or text. I left the front of the book white, but went for the colours of the rainbow throughout the book.

Features

The book  is 13.7 x 13.7 cm with rounded edges, perfect for little hands and suitable for under-3s. The pages are very thick, making them easy to turn. Perhaps best of all, the pages are wipe clean! Autumn is somehow always getting food on her books, so this is an excellent feature.

Reception

The book arrived very quickly in a thick envelope that was small enough to fit through the letterbox. I opened it excitedly, inspecting the print quality and looking at how it had turned out. I was very pleased with it and knew that Autumn would love it.

When I went to get her from her nap, I casually left it on the sofa for her to find for herself. It took less than a minute of her being in the living room to spot it. Smiling, she made a bee line for it straight away. She loved turning each page, seeing who was there and saying their names!

I’d actually bought her a new toy and put that in the middle of the room, but she completely ignored it for the book. She probably looked through it 5 times in a row initially and has kept coming back to it regularly since. Needless to say, it was very well received and may just be her favourite book yet!
