Planning The Perfect Day Out With Your Kids

Collaborative Post¦ Days out with your little ones are an amazing way to make memories. Whether you stick close to home, or explore further afield, it’s always exciting to discover somewhere new together. Many of us will clearly remember day trips from our own childhoods, and want to give that same experience to our children as well. However, it’s also true that days out with small children can be fairly stressful – there are a lot of things which could potentially go wrong. With careful planning, you can make sure that you all enjoy your day and have a lovely trip.

Surviving a Road Trip with a Toddler

Collaborative Post¦ Holidays with young children can be beautiful. Most parents today work incredibly hard. We juggle jobs with keeping our homes clean, side hustles and social lives, on top of looking after our children. It can often feel as though life is passing us by. You might find that your children are growing up without you getting time to enjoy them. A holiday is your chance to stop. To take some time away from the stresses of home life and to enjoy your family. It’s an opportunity to spend quality time together, enjoying your little one’s quirks and passions, as well as tourist attractions, beaches and the occasional cocktail by the pool. It’s also a rare chance to see the world through a child’s eyes. As adults, we’re often a little grumpy. You might find travelling stressful, or find yourself annoyed by things like queues and the other less glamorous sides of holidaying. Kids don’t. They see the world with excitement and joy. They see only the pleasure in a new location, and they take everything in their stride. Letting yourself get carried away with their enthusiasm can allow you to see the world in a way that you haven’t for a long time. It’s amazing.

But, holidays can be expensive. Especially if you’ve got an older child and you are tied avoiding term-time breaks. Many young families can’t afford package holidays or exotic trips abroad. Some families go years without more than a few days away because they simply can’t afford the high costs of travelling as a family.

Get Out and Grow with Sudocrem

Press Trip¦ Did you know that less than 10% of children can name a single variety of English apple? A shocking number of children in the UK don’t know many of the basics about fruit, vegetables and herbs grown in this country. A large number are unable to identify basic gardening tools and 73% have never grown a sunflower. A couple of weeks ago, we attended an event at Clifton Nurseries in London for the launch of Sudocrem’s Get Out and Grow campaign.

The flip side of the ‘terrible twos’

Anyone with a toddler can tell you that the ‘terrible twos’ really do seem to be a real thing. Not listening, being fussy eaters and throwing tantrums are all common issues. Of course, it’s part of their development and understanding of the world. However, it can be very challenging for us parents! So how do you survive the terrible twos? My way of handling it is to take a breath and remember the last wonderful thing that my daughter did. Although it might not feel like it mid-tantrum, there are lots of great things to be enjoyed about this age (clearly you’ve caught me on a good day!)

Struggling financially? Take some simple steps for a better future

Collaborative Post¦ According to the most recent government statistics, over 14 million people in the UK are currently living below the poverty line. That’s more than one in five of us. To put it into context, that’s twice the number of people who are left handed, and three times the number that are vegetarian.

How strange, then, that while being a “leftie” (from a dexterity perspective – no politics here!) or a veggie are common topics of discussion, poverty is the elephant in the room that nobody wants to talk about. 14 million is too big a number to ignore, though, so if you’re struggling to make ends meet, perhaps it’s time to face the challenge head on.
