On winter nights like these, there’s often nothing I want to do more than sit somewhere cosy and eat some delicious, comforting food. I was recently invited to Côte Brasserie in Maidstone and asked my husband to come with me for a rare child-free evening out (thanks Mum and Dad!) There is something romantic and a little luxurious about French cuisine, perfect for a cold evening. It provided me the opportunity to dress up, although it certainly isn’t a necessity! Fortunately, given the heels I’d chosen, it was only a 5 minute walk from the three nearest car parks. Stepping inside, I was excited to see what Côte Brasserie would be like as I’d never been to any of the restaurants in the chain before. View Post
Last week we accepted our invitation to review Rosa’s Thai Cafe, which has recently opened at Bluewater. I really enjoy Thai food and have always felt like Bluewater was missing a Thai restaurant, so it’s great that that has now been rectified. Located next door to the cinema and Dinotropolis, it is ideally positioned for a date with dinner and a film or a day out with children. That said, our main concern before putting it to the test was our 2 year old daughter Autumn. She had never eaten Thai food before! View Post
I was aware of Shaken Udder’s milkshakes for a good couple of years before I met them at a local blogging convention last autumn. The fun cartoon cows on the bottles were what drew me to them first. However, the more I learn about the company and these milkshakes, the more I love them! If you’re a long-term reader of my blog, you’ll know that I enjoy supporting local businesses. As these guys are only an hour up the road from me, across the Thames in Essex, it just adds to their appeal for me. Anyway, that’s enough of my waffling. Let’s get down to what you want to hear about…the milkshake!
I try and cook healthy food for the family – and it’s especially important to do so when you have young children. But sometimes, when you’re feeling tired, there’s nothing better than a KFC Bargain Bucket or a couple of burgers. The trouble is, too much fast food really is bad for you – remember the 2004 documentary Super Size Me, when the film-maker ate only McDonald’s for 30 days?
I’ve come up with some healthy alternatives to my favourite fast foods. Here they are – tasty, convenient, home-cooked fast food recipes. View Post
Like many locals, I was intrigued when I found out that The Copperfield was changing from a Crown Carveries to a Stonehouse Pizza & Carvery. With its great location on Gravesend Road in Shorne, it’s a perfect meeting place for families like ours who are spread between Gravesham and the Medway towns. As such, I have visited many times over the years. Recently, I was delighted to be invited to visit the newly refurbished restaurant to sample the menu and write a review. View Post
