Babies can appreciate music even when they’re in the womb. Seeing Autumn enjoy dancing to music is one of my favourite things. In recent months, we’ve made the move onto playing musical instruments together too. This is a brilliant way to help develop their language and listening skills. We’ve been hitting saucepans with wooden spoons and shaking rice in bottles for a while as well as attending various classes. However, Autumn’s first ‘proper’ instrument was a xylophone kindly sent to us to review.

Review: Musical Bumps, Rochester
Musical Bumps run music classes for babies, toddlers and beyond around the country. Based on the Hungarian Kodaly method of music teaching, they use a mixture of traditional favourite music, as well as less well known music from around the world. Through play, children can grasp musical skills and basic musical concepts, such as rhythm. We recently visited our local class at Dance Junction in Rochester, Kent.
Review: Milton Antibacterial Products
When I was pregnant with Autumn, I had a list of things to buy longer than my arm. Near the top of my list were the all-important sterilising and antibacterial products you need with a new baby. Parents have trusted Milton for over 70 years. I actually remember my mum using their products 20 years ago when my brother was a baby. As such, I trusted them and turned to them to help keep things clean enough for my baby!
Leaving your child for the first time
Whether it’s for a date night or something less fun, there’s always a first time that you have to leave your baby or toddler. This is often difficult the first time round, but it does get better! In the meantime, there are things you can do to make it easier for both you and your child.
Progressing swimmingly with Puddle Ducks!
A couple of months have passed since my last update on Autumn’s toddler swimming lessons with Puddle Ducks. She’s had lessons (with a break in the middle) since she was a three month old baby and she’s now 17 months. Over the last few weeks, though, I have really noticed her skills developing quickly. It’s amazing to see!
