The Jingle All The Way Christmas Tag

Every now and then, I partake in blogger’s tags. These are fun little questionnaires that get spread amongst the blogging community. They help us to find out more about each other – and give our readers a little insight into things about us as well! With December just around the corner, I was invited to take part in the Jingle All The Way Christmas tag! This was really fun and definitely got me feeling festive 🙂

Thank you to Mum’s the Nerd for tagging me. You can see her post here:

The Jingle All The Way Christmas Tag

Where will you be celebrating Christmas this year?

I’ll be celebrating at my parent’s house this year.

Who are you celebrating with?

Autumn, my husband, my parents, my brother, my nan and my great uncle.

Do you own any ugly Christmas jumpers?

Yes, I have three! My favourite is Santa riding a unicorn. It was a Christmas present from my mum a couple of years ago.

How do you spend Christmas Eve?

I’d love to say I spend it doing homely, cosy things. A day of baking gingerbread and watching Christmas films would be the dream. However, in reality I’m more likely to be flitting around doing last minute shopping, helping relatives prepare for Christmas and doing last minute wrapping into the early hours of Christmas morning. I also think I might be working on Christmas Eve this year!

When do you put up your decorations?

I tend to wait until December. From then it’s really whatever weekend it fits into best with our schedule. I don’t have to work this weekend, so we might put them up then as it’ll be the start of December.

Do you have a decorating theme?

Our living room is ochre and grey, so I have ochre, grey, white and light green decorations.

Do you have a tree topper?

I couldn’t find a suitable one last year, no matter how many places I looked. However, I went shopping on Tuesday and found an angel I really like! I grew up with an angel on the tree, so I think that’s why I favour them over having a star. Autumn is so excited about helping me to decorate the tree and her dad lifting her to put the angel on top of the tree.

What’s been your least favourite gift that you have received?

When I was about 6, I received a brooch. It was gold, with a red enamel rose and some small fake pearls hanging from it. It was something someone about 90 would wear.

What would you like to find in your stocking this year?

I don’t mind as long as my friends and family are happy and healthy.

When did you start buying gifts this year?

I started quite early on in the year, January I think. However, I haven’t been very consistent so I still have most of my shopping to do.

Have you ever recycled a gift?

No, I don’t actually think I have!

What’s your favourite Christmas food?

I really love the Boxing Day meal I have at my parent’s house; it’s my favourite meal of the whole year.

What do you leave out for Santa?

We leave a mince pie and some beer out. Of course, we leave a carrot out for the reindeer too!

Have you ever been carolling?

When I was in my primary school’s choir, we went to the local nursing home to sing carols.

What do you usually have for Christmas dinner?

I usually have a Quorn turkey roast with peas, broccoli, runner beans, roast potatoes, Yorkshire puddings, sage and onion stuffing and cranberry sauce. Yum!

When do you open gifts?

Autumn opens hers in the morning, but us adults wait until the afternoon/early evening once we’ve had dinner.

How do you spend Boxing day?

I usually spend Boxing Day at my parents eating an amazing spread of salad and cold meats (or Quorn in my case) from the day before, with all the trimmings. However, this year my father in law is actually off work over the Christmas period for once, which will make a lovely change! As such, we’re going to my in-laws on Boxing Day. I’m not sure exactly how we’ll be spending it yet, as I don’t think I’ve been there for Christmas Day/Boxing Day for about 10 years.

Describe a Christmas present you wanted badly as a kid, but never received

Mr. Frosty! Funnily enough, I found out that my mum also badly wanted a Mr. Frosty as a child but never got one!

Have you ever kissed anyone under the mistletoe?

Yes, my husband!

What’s your favourite character from a Christmas-themed movie, book, or TV special?

Probably Buddy the elf – he’s just so full of Christmas cheer!

If you were Santa Claus, what treats would you want to be left out for you on Christmas Eve?

Hmm… I think it would have to be some chocolate and a double shot of Bailey’s with ice!

What’s your favourite Christmas movie?

I don’t think you can beat Elf, although I do love a cheesy Netflix movie!

Have you ever had a White Christmas?

Nope, never. I thought we were going to in 2010, but it just snowed either side!

Where do you usually spend your holidays?

At home and with relatives.

What is your favourite Christmas song?

Driving Home for Christmas by Chris Rea! I remember it being on an Iceland advert when I was a child in the 90’s and just thinking it was such a great Christmas song. It makes me feel very nostalgic and festive.

Do you open any presents on Christmas Eve?

No! Christmas Eve isn’t Christmas!

Can you name all of Santa’s reindeer? (No cheating!)

Erm… Rudolph, Donner, Dasher, Dancer, Blitzen, Prancer… I can’t do it!

Which holiday traditions are you looking forward to this year?

Visiting family and spending time with them, as well as watching Autumn’s face light up at the magic of Christmas. She’s just turned 3, so this is the first year she really understands what’s going on!

Is your Christmas tree real or fake?

Fake. We had a real one a few years ago, but my husband won’t let us get another one as he got cross about the pine needles.

What is your favourite holiday treat/sweet/food?

Yule log! Yum yum yum. It has to have chocolate in the middle though, I don’t like the yule logs with white cream inside.

Be honest, do you prefer giving or receiving gifts?

I actually prefer giving them, especially when I give something I know they really really wanted!

What is the best Christmas present that you have ever received?

I’m really not sure, I’ve had so many amazing gifts over the years. However, the one that stands out the most is when I got my first computer (a Windows Millenium Edition…remember those?)

What would be your dream place to visit for the holiday season?

I’d love to experience Christmas in Australia with my family over there!

Are you a pro wrapped or do you fail miserably?

I think I’m somewhere in the middle. They don’t look like they’ve been run over, but equally they certainly aren’t professional standard!

Most memorable Christmas moment?

Hmm…I’m not sure. Autumn’s first Christmas was certainly very special! She looked so cute in her little Santa dress and stripy tights.

What made you realise the truth about Santa?

My mum told me in an argument when I was being moody and ungrateful when I was about 10. She tried to backtrack, but it all made sense to me by then!

What makes the holidays special for you?

Spending lots of quality time with my family.

It may seem a little premature at the moment, but Merry Christmas everyone! I’m sure it won’t take long for it to come round!
