5 products to help dry hands

It’s the same story for my hands every winter. They get dry, crack, bleed and sting every time I wash them or use hand cream. This has only got worse since becoming a mother! Now, a new survey has shown that dry skin on hands ages them by an average of 9 years. Some hands were even ‘perceived to be 47 years older than their true age’. Meanwhile, healthy hands were ‘perceived to be younger than their actual age 56% of the time’.

Local Business Spotlight: Munns of Gravesend

In the year that I’ve been writing this blog, I’ve had the pleasure of working with many different brands and companies that I admire. However, I feel the need to help the businesses in my local area in a somewhat different capacity by shining the spotlight onto them. As such, I’m planning to write a “Local Business Spotlight” regularly, (perhaps monthly), focusing on a business local to me. And where better to start than the wonderful Munns of Gravesend, which was quite possibly the very first business I admired?

Our first month back to swimming with Puddle Ducks East Kent

It’s very nearly the first anniversary of when I first took Autumn for baby swimming lessons with Puddle Ducks East Kent. We were trying out all sorts of different groups and things at the time as I found my confidence. I thought swimming would be a fantastic bonding experience for us both. However, most of all, I thought it would be great for her. There are many health benefits to it. Amongst other things, it helps babies, toddlers and children improve their coordination and it builds their muscles. When she was younger, I also found that it tired Autumn out so much she’d have an absolutely huge nap! So, if you’re desperate for sleep, you might want to give swimming a go!

A letter to my daughter at 15 months

Dear Autumn,

We had so much festive fun together in your 14th month. You got two more teeth through, which wasn’t so much fun, but we got through those unsettled nights. The upside is you now have two more beautiful teeth to enjoy chomping your food with. The day you turned 14 months old, we were on holiday at Bluestone. As such, I didn’t use a milestone card or sticker. Frustratingly, I keep forgetting to use them. Although, I’m unsure whether they stopped at 12 months. I’ll try to do better next month…although you’d probably just instantly peel a sticker off and present it to me!

26 years and 26 goals

Post contains sponsored links¦ Last week, I celebrated my 26th birthday. I can’t believe that this year, my husband and I have been together for a whole decade! I’m also very scared of how close I’m getting to the big three-oh. It feels like time has just flown terrifyingly fast since I left school.

Anyway, it seems like a good time to set some goals for the following year. So, why not do that cliché blogger thing and think of 26 as that’s how many years I’ve been on the planet?

My favourites of 2017

Hello again, I hope you’ve had a lovely Christmas! Surprisingly to some, I’ve only had this blog since the beginning of the year. I’m proud of where I’ve got to with it so far. The end of the year always brings with it a pensive mood. I don’t usually take the time at the end of each year to reflect on what’s happened. However, this year I feel that it’s important to.

This year, we’ve lost people some people who were very dear to us. Going into 2018 feels like taking yet another step further away from them, in some respects. However, as sad as it may be, life does go on. They wouldn’t want me to be sitting here dwelling on them. They’d want me to look at the positives, knowing that they’ll always be in my heart and remain a part of me as the years progress. My long-forgotten New Year’s Resolution was to be more positive this year. So here we go, let’s go out with a final big bang of positivity with my favourites of this year!

Meeting Farmer Christmas at Broadditch Farm

On Monday, Autumn, Dave and I went to meet Farmer Christmas at Broadditch Farm. Yes, that’s right. Not “Father Christmas”, FARMER Christmas! I’ve been to Broadditch in Southfleet, Kent (near Gravesend) before for their Halloween and Easter events. They’ve been fantastic and there is also a wonderful farm shop I enjoy visiting. However, I’d never taken part in any of their Christmas activities before.

The best Santa’s Grottos often sell out weeks or even months in advance, so I quickly booked us in at the beginning of November. Funnily enough, it was the first Santa’s grotto I booked into, but the last one we’ll actually visit before Christmas! We saw Santa at a local preloved sale at the beginning of last month and again at Bluestone the following week.

Please excuse the quality of the photos in this post. It was dark and I only had my phone’s camera with me!

Rochester Dickensian Christmas Weekend 2017

A couple of weekends ago, we went to Rochester Christmas Market. We chose that particular weekend, as it was also the Dickensian Christmas Weekend. Charles Dickens lived locally in Higham and many of his novels were inspired by the surrounding area. This is one of two festivals in Rochester throughout the year in which Dickens enthusiasts, re-enactors and many others gather and celebrate Charles Dickens with members of the public.

We arrived just in time for one of the first parades of the day. It’s always such a delight to see so many beautiful outfits and smiley faces. It’s great fun and feels very festive!
