Previously referred to as an up and coming borough, these days locals and visitors alike all agree that Brooklyn is just as culturally rich, exciting and positively bursting with attractions, must-sees, and natural beauty as it’s counterparts.

From an exciting afternoon spent at Coney Island, to brief reprieve from the hustle and bustle of the city at the Botanic Garden, bargain hunting at famous flea markets and a walk along the famous Brooklyn Bridge. It’s not difficult to fill your time when you visit Brooklyn.

UK Lockdown in our House: Weeks 7-11

You may (or may not) have noticed I haven’t been as present on the blog or on social media over the last few weeks. For a few weeks it was down to focusing on making PPE for my local hospital and collecting donations from the local community for them.

As well as juggling homeschool and looking after the home, it was very time consuming and blogging therefore took a back seat! However, I’ve also been feeling a bit under the weather (thankfully not Covid-19) and had a couple of bereavements which have left me a bit downtrodden. I’ve really been missing writing but haven’t had the energy for it. As such, it feels great to be sitting here typing out a blog post once again!

My Lockdown Silver Linings

I think I need to write about something else soon, as I feel like all I really write about is lockdown at the moment! However, this is our life at the moment. This time, I’ve been tagged by Whimsical Mumblings to write about all the silver linings of lockdown life. I can’t even think of a word awful enough to describe how horrendous this virus is; the loss of life, the illness, the anxiety and the stress on our NHS and keyworkers. However, there is plenty to celebrate too. Whilst we need to remember the severity of the situation and not become complacent, it is important to also shift our focus to these positive things.

UK lockdown in our house: Weeks 5 & 6

Oops, I’m a bit late writing this! The truth is, I’ve just been so busy! Bizarrely, I seem to be even busier in lockdown than I usually am. While I’ve noticed a lot of people on social media being bored, I’m finding all sorts of things to do. I’m still finding that giving myself a list of tasks to complete each day is helping to keep me a sense of purpose. It would be so easy to just flop around and fall into a state of depression, but I’m determined to keep a good state of mental health. These are challenging times, so I need to do what I can to keep afloat. I guess we all do, in one way or another.
