Review (Gifted)¦ Jewellery is one of my favourite things to receive as a gift. If it’s personalised, it feels even more special! LOVELOX recently sent me a Little Silver Heart Locket to review, complete with a special engraving and photos.
About LOVELOX
LOVELOX London is a family company with experience of over 100 years. Its heritage can be traced back to 1887 in Birmingham’s historic Jewellery Quarter! LOVELOX was created to “make gifting more meaningful”. Their jewellery is engraved in-house using a diamond-tipped engraving machine and the photos meticulously cut out by hand. The lockets are then assembled and packed in the UK.
Their website contains a whole range of lockets, so you are sure to find one perfect for the recipient (or yourself!) There are a variety of shapes, while some are plain and others are more ornate, some with precious stones. Prices start from a small round silver locket for £44.50 to a large gold tree of life locket for £110. Personalisation costs a little extra and all lockets come in a luxury gift box.
Ordering
The ordering process is very straightforward. Simply click ‘Create My Locket’ on the webpage of the locket you’d like and you’ll be taken to a page where you can choose from 3 fonts, the size of the text and write the message you’d like engraved. You can also upload your pictures here and adjust them until they look good in the preview. Of course, if you just want a locket that doesn’t have personalisation, you could skip this!
I really liked how it clearly tells you at this stage how much the personalisation you’re adding will cost. My Little Silver Heart Locket retails at £45. The engraving was £7, the right photo was £9 and the left photo was £4. This brought my locket to a total of £65.
My Thoughts
Memories of my old special locket
I used to have a beautiful silver heart shaped locket that my husband bought for my 17th birthday. It was the first birthday present he bought me and I treasured it. Inside was a photo of him (albeit not printed very clearly and not very well cut out as it was fiddly) and a lock of his hair. I wore it almost all the time for nearly 9 years, but at the scariest time of our lives I needed a chest X-ray and took it off. There was so much happening with my health and our daughter’s health that nothing was really clear around that time. I thought my husband had tucked it away safely in his wallet. However, we haven’t found it since and I am still devastated whenever I think about it.
Personalising my new locket
So, what could be lovelier than a special new silver locket in my life? I was so excited to personalise this cute little 925 sterling silver locket with photos of my two beautiful children inside. Even more so as it meant I wouldn’t have the tricky job of trying to make sure I printed out and cut a photo just right and then trying to put it in the locket.
The longest part of the ordering process was choosing which photographs I wanted to use! I opted for photos from a photoshoot we had with Hannah Cornford last year. Assembly and delivery was super fast, with me receiving my locket only 2 or 3 days after I’d ordered it!
Arrival of my locket
My locket arrived well pakacged and with a handy care guide. The box it came in is beautiful and perfect for gifting.
The locket is a relatively small 13mm x 14mm, but I love dainty jewellery. As I’m petite, I feel like dainty jewellery definitely suits me better! My necklace is a 16/18 inch adjustable chain, but longer ones were available. Despite its small size, it feels well made and not at all flimsy. The clean lines make it modern, yet it’s such a timeless piece too. It looks great with casual outfits, but will look equally as good with formal ones. I’m sure I will enjoy wearing this for years to come!
The photographs are just as they looked in the preview and look great. As for the engraving, it’s flawless. It says “So loved”, which of course my children always will be whether we’re near or far apart. Now I can carry them always in my heart, both physically and physiologically.
Final thoughts
My experience with LOVELOX was a pleasure, from start to finish. Everything was so streamlined and just as it should be. I would highly recommend keeping them in mind as you do your Christmas shopping this year. For a personal gift, you just can’t beat a locket!
