The first 5 things I want to do post-pandemic

I can’t believe it’s nearly March again. To think that this time last year we had no idea of what was about to unfold. Time has passed very strangely since then. Sometimes it seems like we’ll never get to the end of the pandemic. However, this too shall pass. It’s important to try to keep positive, even though it gets harder and harder the longer this goes on! Here are some things I’m really looking forward to doing when it does eventually come to an end.

1. Introduce my baby

I fell pregnant at the beginning of the pandemic and gave birth in January. As this was during the 3rd lockdown, so many friends, family and colleagues haven’t seen him. Nobody other than my husband and I have held him. I try not to think about it too much as it’s very upsetting. I’m really looking forward to when we can introduce him to people and when family can hug him. It’s just heart breaking that those closest to us haven’t been able to hold him as a newborn though.

2. Hug my family

I am a very ‘huggy’ person and I hate that I haven’t been able to properly hug any of my family for almost a year. I especially want to hug my nan and can’t wait to do so!

3. Go swimming

It sounds a bit weird but I really used to enjoy going swimming with my husband and Autumn. Autumn and I have only managed to have a couple of swimming lessons in the last year due to Covid-19. We used to go every week and then we used to go to the pool as a whole family sometimes too. We haven’t been able to do that since 2019 and I’m really looking forward to being able to again. I can’t wait to get in the pool with baby Reuben and see what he makes of it too!

4. Have a day out

I really miss taking Autumn for days out. We used to enjoy going to soft play, parks, the beach and the zoo. Again, that’s something we haven’t done for over a year. I feel like it’s affecting her development. I’m also getting so stir crazy after practically shielding all of last year and can’t wait to have a proper change of scenery! I’m not too fussy about where we go at this point.

5. Go on holiday

It’s now been over 2 years since we went on holiday. Over the last few years, we’ve usually gone to Pembrokeshire in Wales annually. I really miss it there and so much. I can’t wait to take in the fresh air and beautiful scenery again. I’ve never entirely felt that town life suits me to be honest. Sometimes I just feel the need to be by the sea or amongst the trees, somewhere in nature.

What are the first things you want to do once the pandemic is over? I’d love to hear from you in the comments!
