5 reasons why you should use a removal company

Sponsored Post¦ I have moved house twice in the last decade. The most recent was at the end of 2020 when I was 34 weeks pregnant with my youngest, Reuben. After my latest experience, I don’t feel like I ever want to move again! We did all the packing ourselves and moved with the help of family who were amazing. However, it was still incredibly stressful. Having looked into it, I would definitely want to use a removal company if I did move house again. Here are 5 reasons why you should use one:

1. Less Stress

The whole process of buying (and selling) a house, then packing and moving is incredibly stressful too. You always seem to own far more things than you realise, even after a good clear out! There’s always the concern of problems arising on moving day and there is a lot of time pressure when it comes to getting things moved out of your old property and into your new one. When you have children, they’re yet another thing to worry about.

Removal companies take all that stress off of your shoulders, as you can hand over all the responsibility of the move. This allows you to feel excited about moving into your new home and the time to think about other more important things like sorting out paperwork and considering which cupboard you’re going to store your cans in. Just setting up rather than having to do absolutely everything is a much more pleasant experience!

2. Time Saving

Packing everything into boxes is so time consuming. Removal companies can do it for you, saving you hours of trying to organise things. Plus, they’ll use their years of experience to expertly pack and wrap everything to keep it safe. As a non-professional, I’ve always held my breath when opening boxes that delicate items have been packed into.

As they haul around boxes and awkwardly shaped objects regularly, they are used to it and therefore much quicker. They can fit more than the average person into a van which may end up saving more time as they’ll need less journeys to transport everything between the properties.

3. Help if problems occur

Removal companies do this all the time. As such, they may be more likely to spot an issue unfolding that could result in your house move not going to plan. They’re used to dealing with minor problems like poor weather or lack of parking outside. They are also better placed to help out with bigger problems too. If for some reason you end up not being able to move into a property the same day as you move out of your old one, many companies like this Darlington Removal Company have their own storage facilities.

4. Insurance

With the best will in the world, accidents happen. If your friend drops a box and something fragile smashes, there’s little you can do about it. Removal companies are less likely to have these accidents than family and friends due to the measures they put in place and their experience. However, if an accident does occur you’re covered by insurance.

5. Heavy Lifting

When you hire a removal company, you can literally let them do all the heavy lifting. You don’t have to worry about friends or family hurting their backs or getting a hernia. (I was so anxious about this and would have felt so guilty if they’d injured themselves helping us move into our new house). It is the removal company’s job and they know what they’re doing when it comes to lifting heavy and difficultly shaped items, even up stairs and around narrow and awkward shaped hallways.
