The right men’s trousers for the occasion

Collaborative Post¦ It’s important to make a good impression, no matter what situation you go to. Part of this is making sure that you dress appropriately for the occasion. Whether you like it or not, people have already formed part of an opinion based on what they see. Let’s take a look at a selection of mens trousers from chums and see what kind of situations different styles of trousers are suitable for:

Formal Trousers

It is what it says on the tin! Formal trousers are best suited to formal occasions. Think the workplace, drinks with a date or a meal in a fancy restaurant. Of course, they are also the obvious choice for weddings, funerals and christenings too. Wool trousers look smart and provide extra warmth in the winter months. If you’re going for navy, well polished brown shoes give a classic but modern look.

Cargo Trousers

Y2K fashion is back – and with it so are cargos! Cargo trousers are the polar opposite to formal trousers, as they are very casual. They’re also comfortable and the pockets are very practical (although they do look best if you don’t stuff them full!) These are the trousers to wear with t-shirts, sweaters and hoodies for meeting up with friends or going to a zoo or theme park for the day.

Chinos

Chinos are somewhere between the above, perfectly smart casual! They’re also quite light, so are great for the summer. Any colour goes for casual occasions like a trip to the pub or walk at the park. If you wear a dark colour and pair them with a smart shirt, they work well for formal occasions.

Corduroy Trousers

Corduroy trousers used to be seen as an old man trouser, but are having a bit of a revival. They fit well into the current cottagecore trend! What chinos provide in the summer, cords provide in the winter. They can be either smart or casual and keep your legs nice and toasty! You can wear them with a t-shirt and Converses for a casual look. Alternatively, wear them with a smart jumper or a quirky blazer on occasions where you need to be smart.
