Review: Peppa’s Big Red Car

Review¦ I haven’t reviewed any children’s toys for a long while now. However, when the opportunity arose to review Peppa’s Big Red Car, I knew that Autumn would absolutely love it. She adores her toy cars and Peppa Pig, so it’s the perfect crossover. She is also really starting to get into pretend play and I knew that the picnic set that comes with it would add another dimension of play to it.

What’s included

Included in the set is:

  • The big red car
  • Exclusive Peppa Pig and Mummy Pig figures in picnic outfits
  • Picnic hamper
  • Picnic blanket
  • Bottle
  • 2 plates of food
  • 1 barbecue

Overview

A must have for any Peppa Pig fan, this little car and its accessories seem robust and it’s easy to manoeuvre. Autumn can be a little rough and tumble with her toys, so this is a must! I like how the picnic accessories all fit into the boot of the car. It’s well designed and means pieces are less likely to get lost. It also makes it easier to take out with us. The seats are hollowed out to the shape of the figures when they’re in a sitting position. As such, the figures stay in place and don’t end up rolling around while the car is being pushed.

One downside is the fact that it only includes Peppa Pig and Mummy Pig figures, although they are wearing pretty picnic outfits. Mummy Pig even has a hat! Of course, this is to encourage you to make another purchase of the other figures and/or playsets.

However, I was pleasantly surprised that the two AAA batteries required are included. It’s always awful seeing a child disappointed on their birthday or Christmas if there aren’t any batteries to go in their gift. Therefore, I’m always grateful to see when they’re included as I want to avoid accidental disappointment!

Autumn’s Thoughts

I set up the car with the picnic set while Autumn was asleep. She noticed it as soon as she came downstairs from her nap, doing a massive gasp and running straight towards it. Since then, she hasn’t really stopped playing with it! She enjoys pushing it around the room between the picnic site, her Peppa Pig playground, her wooden farm and the imaginary destination of her favourite restaurant. As it drives along, she is sure to press the steering wheel so that it plays its tune, smiling every time.

She really enjoys having a picnic in real life and finds it equally as exciting making Peppa and Mummy Pig have a picnic. Autumn likes the pictures on the plates and they have conversations such as “Here’s your salad, Mummy Pig. Eat it all up!” Whilst she really likes the barbecue and picnic blanket, I think her favourite accessory is the picnic basket as it reminds her of our own! This play set is lovely, but even more so for summer with picnics fresh in her mind.
