Wow, I can hardly believe that September is here! It’s a busy month for us with hubby’s birthday, Autumn’s 2nd birthday and an anniversary. We’re also going to be Godparents later this month and I have a blogging conference to attend. Everything is beginning to feel very autumnal now – and of course the kids are back to school! We’ve been testing out some of Spearmark’s back to school range, including a Locksy Ultraclip lunch box. Here I explain more and give you the chance to win some of the range!
Like many locals, I was intrigued when I found out that The Copperfield was changing from a Crown Carveries to a Stonehouse Pizza & Carvery. With its great location on Gravesend Road in Shorne, it’s a perfect meeting place for families like ours who are spread between Gravesham and the Medway towns. As such, I have visited many times over the years. Recently, I was delighted to be invited to visit the newly refurbished restaurant to sample the menu and write a review.
Autumn loves her food, but I worry about her eating too many things that aren’t good for her. After all, a lot of convenient on-the-go foods have scary levels of salt and sugar in them, even when they’re marketed at children! Meanwhile, at 18 months old, her taste-buds have become more sensitive to flavours. If my husband provides her with some chocolate buttons, some chunks of pear and blueberries, the fruit will all go straight on the floor! Therefore, it’s important that healthy snacks are presented to her carefully and in a fun way, like Googly Fruit’s organic products.
The main focus of the last few days has, of course, been the snow. We’ve had lots of it here in Kent and the roads have been quite unsafe. As such, we haven’t managed to get out Mother’s Day shopping yet. I’m sure many of you are in the same boat. However, it’s creeping up fast as Mother’s Day is now only next weekend on Sunday 11th March! Here’s some gift ideas – most of which you can buy online to save you going out in the ice and cold weather.
I said I was giving myself a break this week for my birthday. Come on though, when do I ever give myself a break?! It feels like this week has a square pie sized hole, so I couldn’t resist putting this review up. I was going to write and publish this post just before Christmas. However, I then realised that all anyone cared about at that point was Christmas and these pies do NOT deserve to be ignored by the masses!
You may be familiar with Square Pie, particularly if you’re based in London. Well, they have now brought three flavours of “Proper Little Pies” to a Waitrose freezer near you. I love a good pie with a crispy pastry, so I was keen to put them to the test.
