5 Best Family Holiday Days Out in Abu Dhabi

Collaborative Post¦ As we approach the end of the year, everyone is thinking about Christmas. I mean, me too. However, I’m also thinking about the warmth of the sun and next year’s holiday. I struggle to deal with cold weather and lots of rain. You’d think after 30 years of living in England I’d have acclimatised, but apparently not. Therefore, when I get a rare moment to close my eyes and think, it’s no wonder I find myself fantasising about being somewhere hot and exotic like Abu Dhabi. I personally wouldn’t want to go on holiday without my children (no shade to those who do), but Abu Dhabi has lots of things to entertain kids. From theme parks and water parks, to beautiful beaches, there is truly something for everyone. Plus, as you can see from Square Meal UAE, Abu Dhabi restaurants serve amazing food! All this makes it a great holiday destination for families!

Let’s take a look at 5 of the best family days out:

1. Ferrari World Abu Dhabi

As a car lover, Ferrari World was obviously going to be at the top of my list! Ferrari World is the world’s first Ferrari-branded theme park. As well as having memorabilia as you’d expect, there are also a number of simulators and attractions suitable for the whole family. As well as gentler rides, there are also 20 record-breaking rides, including Formula Rossa, the world’s fastest roller coaster! You can also go-kart, watch live shows and walk across the iconic red roof emblazoned with the Ferrari logo.

2. Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi

This Warner Bros. themed park has rides based on you and your children’s favourite characters! Worlds to explore are Metropolis, Cartoon Junction, Gotham City, Dynamite Gulch and Bedrock. Most rides are more family friendly here, although there are a handful of more thrilling rides such as Batman: Knight Flight too. There are also daily shows and various fun events run throughout the year, based on characters or the seasons. Excitingly, a Harry Potter world was announced at the end of 2022. As it’s been a year now, could the Middle East’s first Harry Potter themed land open next year?! This is certainly going to be an amazing and very popular addition to the park.

3. Yas Waterworld

If you want to stay outside in the heat, a waterpark will keep you nice and cool! Yas Waterworld is an amazing waterpark with over 40 rides and slides, perfect for your toddlers all the way up to your teens. Themed on a story about a lost pearl, both the story itself and the design of the park are based on Emirati history and culture. Family activities include a wave pool and a cinema that fills up with water to your knees. However, if it’s adrenaline you’re seeking, the freefall drop waterslide Liwa Loop is definitely one to be experienced. Ahh!! New to the park is also an underwater VR experience, which sounds amazing.

4. Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque

Wherever I go, I like to learn about the history and architecture of the area. I think it’s important for children to experience at least a small dose of this too. It’s crucial that they learn about different cultures to become well-rounded members of society who can understand and appreciate people’s differences. Completed in 2007, this beautiful mosque is the largest in the U.A.E. Remember that this is an sacred place of worship for Muslims, so it is important to dress and behave respectfully.

5. Jubail Mangrove Park

Last, but certainly not least, is Jubail Mangrove Park. Mangroves protect the coastline of Abu Dhabi and this park is a sanctuary where you can meander along a boardwalk and take in the beauty of nature. As well as learning about the importance of mangroves and the animals who call this forest home, you can also take part in a number of experiences. I can’t decide whether I prefer the look of the sunset kayaking experience, or the magical looking night glow kayaking experience!
