Review: Stickle Bricks Farm Set

Review (Gifted)¦ Like a lot of toddlers his age, 22 month old Reuben is really into building things and trying to figure out how things work. He also loves animals and vehicles. Therefore, as soon as I saw the Stickle Bricks Farm Set, I knew he would love it. He’s never played with Stickle Bricks before, but I have such fond memories of playing with them when I was little! The bright colours and how nice they felt to play with has always stuck in my mind. Unsurprisingly, he was drawn to the box and started playing immediately as I got each piece out.

Learning and Playing with the Stickle Bricks Farm Set

Like all Stickle Bricks, this set is so good for developing little ones’ senses with a variety of gorgeous bright colours and shapes just the right size for their little hands. Slotting the stickle bricks together helps to develop their motor skills, but isn’t overly tricky unlike with some building toys. He also really loves the tractor, wheeling it around and making sound effects. He’ll pause to take bricks off or put bricks on, before taking it on another journey! I didn’t even know prior to this that you could have Stickle Bricks with moving wheels! (Perhaps it wasn’t a thing back in the 90s?) ! It has been good for his vocabulary too, with him now able to say “farmer”.

We’ve had our farm set for a few weeks now and the novelty hasn’t worn off yet. It’s still one of his favourite toys to pick out to play with. In fact, as I write this, he currently has a huge grin driving the tractor up my wardrobe doors!

This set is for 18 months upwards and there are so many ways to play with it. You can simply play farms, explore and sort the shapes and colours, use the animals to sing Old McDonald or just build freestyle. The box is lovely for it all to just go back into at the end of play, with the ‘field’ being the box’s lid. For the quality and versatility of the toy, I’d say I find it worth the £20 price tag.
