7 tips to make your bathroom look better on a budget

Sponsored Post¦ Bathrooms suffer a lot of wear and tear from all the use they get on a daily basis. Unfortunately, they’re also one of the most expensive rooms to redecorate! If you can’t currently afford to rip everything out and start afresh, you’re not alone. However, there are ways you can make it look better in the mean time. Here are 7 ways you can achieve this:

1. Give it a lick of paint

Giving your bathroom a lick of paint will make it feel so much fresher! Change the colour so that it feels ‘new’. Remember, the walls aren’t the only thing you can paint! Cupboards and bath panels will also benefit from it. Just make sure that you choose a suitable paint so that it lasts in the often damp and humid bathroom environment.

2. Use stick on tiles

Another easy way to update your bathroom is to use Sticker Wall Tiles! They’re very popular for quick, budget bathroom and kitchen makeovers for good reason! With good preparation, these can either go on the wall or on top of tiles. I am seriously tempted to stick some over my 1980’s dolphin tiles if I have to wait much longer to decorate my bathroom!

3. Change your accessories

It’s amazing how just changing up some accessories can make such a difference to a room! Try using soaps, lotions, vases and other ornaments to give the room a new feel.

4. Add a pop of colour

When we moved into our old house, the bathroom was completely white. It was a bit bland for my liking, but the benefit was that I could easily change the look and feel of the room with dramatically contrasting pops of colour! All you need is some bright flannels, towels and mats. You could even do what I did and buy sets in a couple of colours so you can switch between looks!

5. Swap out the shower curtain

Shower curtains are often a big focal point in a room. This makes them another cost-effective way to improve your bathroom. Plus, if you have dodgy 80’s tiles like mine, you can keep them drawn to hide them! Plain, fun or fashionable, there are so many designs to choose from.

6. Update your art

Paintings, photos and mirrors always bring a lot to a room. The bathroom is no different! If the space is small, a mirror will help to make it feel bigger and brighter. If your mirror is utilitarian, consider changing it over for a more decorative one. Regarding artwork, framed quotes are popular in bathrooms. Otherwise, a painting of your favourite place would definitely help you to relax in the bath!

7. Add some greenery

Houseplants are definitely having a moment! Not only do they make a room look more stylish and help create a relaxed vibe, they can distract from any flaws you want to hide. Many are also very good at absorbing water from the air, helping to prevent mould. If you don’t want the maintenance, there are also many beautiful realistic looking fake plants in the shops. My downstairs toilet doesn’t have any natural light, so an artificial plant was perfect for placing on the shelf in there!
