But, you can enhance the magic even more by spending time together reading some Christmas classics!

With so many beautiful Christmas books out there, you’re spoilt for choice, so we’ve narrowed down three Christmas stories that will spark your little one’s imagination.

Keep reading to find out more.

The Night Before Christmas

We’re sure that many of you remember reading this traditional tale for yourselves, making it all the more special when you share the story with your little one. In this story, you’ll follow Father Christmas as he creeps through the house, leaving gifts for the children, spreading the Christmas spirit. The book is full of poetry that has a beautiful rhythm and rhyming scheme, that when read aloud, is both musical and fun. You and your child could take it in turns to read a line from the book, allowing them to test their reading skills whilst indulging in the Christmas classic.

Elmer’s Christmas

Everyone’s favourite patchwork elephant is back for a Christmas special! This tale follows Elmer and fellow young elephants as they wait in anticipation, two days before Christmas Eve, for Papa Red to visit. In preparation for his arrival, they go out to find a tree to decorate and gather presents for Papa Red to take to those who need them most. But, to add a twist to the story, Elmer has a special gift of his own for all of the other elephants and he’s on a mission to keep it hidden. There’s nothing better than giving to those who you love and those who deserve it most, and your little one will learn all about that in this fun-filled festive story.

Stick Man

If your child is already a fan of Julia Donaldson’s stories, like the Gruffalo and Room on the Broom, then they’re bound to love her beautiful Christmas story. This book will see you embark on an unintentional adventure with Stick Man, who strays from his home and needs to get back to his family tree in time for Christmas. You’ll see Stick Man face many big hurdles, motivated to overcome them by the love that he has for his family. Once you’ve read this wonderful story together, you can bring the tale to life for your little one, by watching the animated film that airs around the festive season.

At the end of the day, there’s nothing better than snuggling down and allowing your little one to engage their imagination by reading some beautiful Christmas stories together. If they’re old enough to read along, make sure to encourage them to join in, to get the most out of your reading together.
