Review: Night Owl 3-in-1 Sleeping Bag

Review (Gifted)¦ Sleepovers and camping holidays are so much fun – but all punctuated in my memories by mild discomfort. Sleeping bags. They’re not the comfiest things, are they? Their weird, slippery material leaves a lot to be desired (although, I do remember sliding down the stairs in them at one sleepover, which was pretty good fun!) The zips often seem to be stiff and annoying. They’re also not cosy in a conventional way. I’ve felt like a human burrito wrapped in my duvet at night, but never in a sleeping bag before. I don’t have trouble sleeping, but it takes longer in a sleeping bag. Well, that was the case previously. I don’t want to sound dramatic, but I have discovered a sleeping bag that is going to revolutionise my future family camping trips by giving me the best sleep I’ve ever had in a tent!

Material

The material of this sleeping bag is not the same as any other I’ve had, it’s not the usual slippery material that feels so synthetic against your skin. It is super soft and luxurious – I was so surprised by how lovely the fabric feels! Its 100% Smartfil® polyester is made from recycled PET Bottles and feels so padded and cosy, yet not overly hot in warm weather. Plus, I love the fact it has put some old bottles to good use rather than landfill! It also isn’t stiff like usual sleeping bags. It behaves the same as a duvet when you’re using it. At 7.0 togs, it’s perfect for this time of year as it’s ideal for autumn, winter and spring. It comes in a handy carry bag made from the same lovely fabric.

Zips and configuration

In its double configuration, it’s 200cm x 160cm. Yep, I know that’s not necessarily too easy to visualise. So here’s a picture of my 6 foot tall husband playing dead alongside it!

Night owl sleeping bag

The zip is a good, easy to grip zip and can be used from inside and outside the sleeping bag. It allows you to get in and out really easily. There’s no awkward fumbling to find the zip when you need the loo in the middle of the night! The zip locks into place so it doesn’t just open, too. It’s also so easy to change the configuration of the sleeping bag from a double to two singles and back again.

Night Owl 3-in-1 sleep bag

Our sleeping bag will be perfect for my husband and I on camping trips and for Autumn and her friends when she has sleepovers. Autumn and my husband have really enjoyed putting them to the test on warmer nights. Of course, midnight snacks, games and books by torch light have been a must!

Washing and drying

Washing and drying it is hassle free (yay!) It fits into the washing machine and can even be tumble dried on a cool temperature. It dries quickly, which is perfect as a busy mum who always has lots of washing to get through!

Parting thoughts

While I’ve heard of The Fine Bedding Company before, I’ve never owned any of their products. However, this wonderful sleeping bag really has turned my attention to them. It is such brilliant quality – I never thought I’d have a sleeping bag that felt luxurious! I also really admire their background, as well as their efforts to run their business sustainably and ethically. How many companies can say that their products are fully traceable, after all?

The Night Owl 3-in-1 Sleeping Bag retails for £95 at The Fine Bedding Company and is worth every penny if you want to sleep in comfort on the go. I’m so impressed that I’m thinking of investing in one of their duvets when mine needs replacing!
