Review¦ Bedtime is often somewhat chaotic in our house, and I imagine we’re not alone in that! There are always excuses about brushing teeth and not being able to find pyjama bottoms. It’s certainly not always the calm environment I’d like it to be. With this heightened energy, it can take a while for the children to fall asleep once they make it into bed. Therefore, when we were approached to review The Children’s Meditations: In My Heart by bestselling Danish author Gitte Winter Graugaard, I was interested to see if it could at least add some calm to our routine.
My Review
The book contains 4 short meditation stories, revolving around love and self-worth. Before you get into them, there’s a lovely introduction explaining how you are helping your child to sense their bodies, minds and hearts and nurturing their feelings of self-love, harmony and empathy. It also gives advice on reading the stories in a calming voice and where to pause to allow your child to reflect.

The book is aimed at children aged 3-12 years old, which I would agree with. My 5 year old son and 9 year old daughter both really enjoy it. We’ve had ours a couple of weeks now and they beg me to read one of the meditations every night! The stories take your child to a beautiful meadow and mountain where they see their heart and learn to fill it with love and share love with others. They also meet their cloud which is full of the love of everyone who loves them, which they can use to fill their hearts. Snuggling up close and reflecting on your love and all those who love you is a wonderful way to end the day. There are pages for you to reflect after the meditation with your child, too.

No matter what kind of day we’ve had, this book helps us to feel close and share, appreciate and enjoy our love for one another. It’s very special to be able to share this time with my children, especially as they may be feeling unsettled as we look forward to welcoming their little sister in September. Autumn often finds it difficult to fall asleep. However, we have found these meditations help her to settle her thoughts and fall asleep much faster.
Autumn’s Review
I think the meditation book is very good because it is very calming and it makes me go to sleep faster. Some nights we read it and some nights we don’t, so we listen to stories on our Yotos, but it is a great book. It makes me feel happy, calm, mushy and loved at the same time. My favourite meditation in the book is where you can send love to someone you miss or you’ve not seen for a long time. I sent my love to Nanny because I missed her. When we read it again, we did the same mediation and I sent it to my best friend B that I’ve known since we were babies and we still are besties. This is a very good book, it makes you use your imagination lots. 😊😊😊😊Also my mummy has a really calm voice that I loved listening to .
