Next Steps When You Are Struggling To Conceive

If you want to have a baby, it can be an exciting and enervating time trying to make it happen. But that is not to say that it’s without stress – there is also a lot that can go wrong, and it can take a long time to conceive. Sometimes, it just doesn’t seem to be happening at all. If this is happening to you, know that you are not alone, and there are things you can do to help it along. In this post, we are going to discuss some of the next steps you may consider taking when you are struggling to conceive.

Check Timing

Before you seek further help, remember that timing plays a huge role, and it’s worth checking in with this to make sure that you are going to be asking for help at the right time. It also means thinking about timing for when to have regular, unprotected sex during the most fertile days of the cycle. So, if you are doing that during the few days before and during ovulation, you are going to be increasing your chances considerably, and that is a simple thing to try and remember.

When To Seek Help

In terms of when to seek help, there is a general rule of thumb. If you are under 35 and have been trying for a year consistently, or you are over 35 and you have been trying for six months consistently, then it might be time to book an appointment with a doctor. If you have irregular cycles or other known reproductive health issues, you may want to see the doctor even sooner. Often just having the appointment booked in can help you psychologically a great deal, which is actually a major part of all this too.

Know Your Options

It can help to think further down the line already, and consider what other options there are and what you might be able to do about them. You have something like IVF treatment, for instance. This is something that can work very well when it works, but it can take numerous attempts as well, and there is just no knowing whether that will be the case for any particular couple. However, it’s amazing technology that has helped a lot of couples in the past, and it’s certainly something you will want to consider at the very least.

Keep Health Strong

Overall, you are going to have much better chances if you are healthy and fit, and if your partner is healthy and fit too. So keeping your health strong is going to make a huge difference to how you feel and to the chances you have of success, and it’s something that you might want to think about for sure. All in all, this is going to make a huge difference to how likely you are to conceive, as well as how likely the baby is then to be healthy as well, so it is really important.
