I’m Laura, 25, a Mummy of one beautiful and amazing little girl called Autumn who was born in September 2016. I’m happily married to Dave, who is a bit of a weirdo. The following quote from Alice in Wonderland comes to mind: “You’re entirely bonkers. But I’ll tell you a secret. All the best people are”.
Here’s us on our wedding day (credit for this photo goes to the marvellous Robert Marriott Photography):
Life as Autumn’s Mummy didn’t get off to a good start. For the first fortnight of Autumn’s life, things were going fantastically. She got a (rare, so I was told) 10/10 on the Apgar tests when she was born and sailed through all the midwive’s checks just as she had sailed through her ultrasound scans. Then, at two weeks old she suddenly fell ill and it turned out to be a huge ovarian cyst that had wrapped itself around one of her ovaries and killed it off. It’s now thought that a shock response to this caused her body to mimic the symptoms of sepsis. After an operation at 5 weeks to remove it, she has fortunately been doing very well again, although I was left rather shell-shocked by it!
Here’s our beautiful girl the day after she was born:
I started writing this blog as a way of documenting our day to day life as a family. After all, I’m not just Laura anymore. I have a new identity as “Autumn’s Mummy” and I love it!
I have a passion for writing and very eclectic tastes; from cheese to childcare and from makeup to metal, so you can expect to see a whole lot of different topics covered here. I hope you enjoy reading and please do get in touch; I’d love to hear from you!
