Collaborative Post¦ Changing neighborhood is not an easy thing, no matter if it is a place that you already knew or if it is an area where you have not been before, it will probably take you a couple of months to feel that the new neighborhood is your home. If you’re moving to a new city, you will need to get to grips with the area. If you are moving somewhere such as damansara perdana you may want to look at the local amenities. In your new location, you will need to try and feel at home and get around without getting too lost! Perhaps you’re a mother, and you have your kids to think about, it’s important to look at the schools in the area and how they are likely to help them grow. Kids are resilient and will often find the excitement in a move but it’s not always easy. However, you can make the physical aspect easy with a few friendly tips to adhere to. Here are some things you should do before you move home.
For safety you should check the facilities such as the electrical circuit box and make sure that the sections of the house are labeled, otherwise do it. If it has alarms, check that they work well to be able to trust them, if they are from batteries, consider that they may be discharged; also buy one or more fire extinguishers.
If the house is empty, you can do it in advance before the move, if not, you can do it the day you move. If the house is new, add an extra lock or two to the one that is already on the door just to be safe.
Do it at the post office and contact the banks where you have credit and debit cards. This will prevent your mail from getting lost and missing payments on your cards.
Make a list as detailed as you want before the move and confirm that everything arrived complete and in good condition, this regardless of whether you hired a mover company or not. If you are about to move and you still don’t know how to move your things, you should certainly look at getting a reliable removal company to help.
If your house has the necessary furniture to accommodate clothes, dishes, utensils and decoration, do not take long to get everything ready; having the simplest things on hand will make you feel less in the moving process and more like home. This is important if you have kids, getting the amenities out quickly are vital.
Visit the restaurants, kitchens, bars and shops of the new area. Try to get to know a new place every time, so you can have a better perspective of the neighborhood and by spending time outside, you can identify the people who live there and if your personality is outgoing, you will meet people easily. This will be good for the kids too to get an idea of the area.
Find different streets to go wonder around and other places you wouldn’t think to usually walk around. When you return home, you can make note of the places and businesses that you have found nearby and may need one day.
During your walks, observe what routes pass through there, from trucks, subway stations, metrobus or bicycle stations, even if you do not use them normally. Many times we think that there is only one route to get from point A to point B, when in reality other types of much more direct transport pass in the nearby streets.
It may be that you have the gift of words and meeting new people is very easy, or maybe you are shy; but in any case, be open when someone approaches and asks you something or you need to know something about the building or the neighborhood. Knowing your neighbors will make you feel more secure, plus strong friendships can emerge.
Change is always a good thing, whether it’s because of what you can get or because of the experience of daring. In that change, you may miss your previous routine, but surely in your new neighborhood you will create bonds with nice people, you will know new places and you will make your dream house a home very soon.
