I was delighted when Too Faced came to the UK last year, as I’d heard great things about the brand and loved the look of the products. Then, even better, a store popped up at Bluewater shopping centre. My mum and I were doing some Christmas shopping when I first visited. It was every bit as amazing as I’d hoped. The pigments were fantastic – and don’t get me started on the designs and smells. When I opened the Chocolate Bar Eyeshadow Palette on Christmas Day, I was over the moon!
The box is absolutely gorgeous; Too Faced are quite possibly my favourite makeup brand for presentation. I also love that they’re cruelty-free. Many of their products are also vegan and paraben free (although, not this particular palette).
The palette itself is beautifully presented and looks like a chocolate bar. When you open it, it smells like it too. Yum!
The eyeshadows are infused with cocoa and after just over two months of use, it still smells just as lovely. The pigment of them is great and I like the mixture of metallic and matte colours.
Whilst all the palettes look great, when my mum asked which I liked best, I said this one. My reason for this is that it has a lot of light brown shades and is such an easily wearable palette that you can easily reach for every day. However, unlike some similar palettes, there are also little (very wearable) pops of colour in it.
I adore the indulgent names of the shades too; although with names like candied violet, champagne truffle and black forest truffle it makes me hungry!
The eyeshadow is very soft and applies very well. It blends well, too. It actually comes with a small leaflet with a few looks and steps to follow to achieve them, which is a nice touch. Although, with the palette retailing for £49 you really would hope that it applied well, was a beautiful design and had a little extra like the leaflet!
I’ve followed them a few times, as well as doing my own thing. It’s nice how there are so many shades that work well together, whether you want a daytime look or some drama for going out.
I recently used this palette at a makeup class I attended with Makeup by Hali and was really pleased with the results. Please ignore the state of my eyebrows. As a busy mum I find it difficult to fit in getting them done sometimes, especially as I’m very fussy about who does them!
Here’s an unedited front view so that you can see what it looked like with eyes open:
If it’s within your budget, I would definitely recommend this palette. Without a doubt, it’s one of my most favourite things in my makeup collection. The other palettes are gorgeous as well, so I’m considering saving up for another!
