There’s something special about London. It’s such a vibrant city with so much to see and do. Whilst it’s lovely to take a picnic in St James’ Park and see the changing of the guards in the summer and visit Greenwich Park in the Autumn, this time of year brings with it a new kind of magic.
Let’s take a look at some of the places which are must visits at this time of year.
With London being my nearest major city, I’ve been on the London Eye several times. It’s been a fantastic experience every time. However, my most favourite time was quite possibly when I went in late December in the afternoon. Going up, we could spot many landmarks in daylight. As it got dark, we watched London light up. It’s a truly spectacular sight, especially with the addition of Christmas lights over the city.
Hyde Park really becomes magical at this time of year as it transforms into a Winter Wonderland. With ice skating, a Christmas market, a circus, food and drink and much more, there is something for everyone. It’s open from 10am until 10pm from the 17th of November until January 1st. So whether it’s a day of family fun, a date or a girl’s night out you’re after, it’s perfect for some festive fun!
People travel for miles to see the amazing New Year fireworks in London. So why not watch them in style with champagne in your hand from the Shard? With a cocktail on arrival, a goody bag and stunning views, you would certainly be bringing in 2018 in style! The party doesn’t end until 2am with DJ Santero on the decks to start the new year with a buzz as you dance with the backdrop of the illuminated capital city.
If Harry Potter is your thing, the Warner Bros Studio Tour in Watford is amazing. You can see sets, props and costumes from the films. Secrets are also shared about how they made the movies and you can try butterbeer! At this time of year, it becomes even more magical with snow and Christmas trees lining the Great Hall. It’s always booked out incredibly quickly, but you can also buy tickets to have Christmas dinner there!
Will you be visiting London over the festive period? I’d love to hear what you get up to!

A party at the Shard would certainly be seeing in the new year in style:) I haven’t been up there yet but have heard and read good things. I love a trip to London and this is a great guide, thank you.
Lovely having you part of #mainyloveschristmas with such a spot on festive post.

Party at the Shard sounds amazing!!!! Yet to find a babysitter though. Still want to do Winter Wonderland but it sounds like it gets busier and busier every year and so expensive. I’m yet to be able to afford London at Christmas.

We’re lucky that London is pretty close to us, but Winter Wonderland does look so busy and expensive. Absolutely amazing all the same, though!
I would love to visit London over Christmas….The party at the shard sounds fantastic!

I wish I could go to all of those places! They all look amazing! #mainyloveschristmas
I’ve been lucky enough to go to a couple of them, but I’d like to visit the others too! I’ve been on the London Eye twice if my memory serves me well, but possible 3 times.
