What I wore to Download Festival 2017

Before I went to Download festival, I wasn’t really sure what to wear. Of course, it’s a rock and metal event, so clothing doesn’t matter as much as a lot of the other festivals around.

However, I didn’t want to be underdressed or stick out like a sore thumb, so I did some research on the internet first. I found other blogs and trawled google images, searching “What to wear to Download festival“.

What I found out

I found that, really, anything goes at Download! You can be nice and comfy in just a t-shirt and jeans (usually a band t-shirt), or go all out! Some people wore fancy dress costumes, including banana suits and characters from Mario Kart. Basically, just go with whatever you feel like. However, if you’re unsure, wearing black is a good bet! You can find out more about what others wore to Download 2017 in my blog post about it.

Festival shopping

When it came to shopping for what I was going to wear, I looked at H&M to begin with. I noticed a few weeks ago that they had nice band clothing at reasonable prices.

Then I found out that Missguided had just opened a shop at Bluewater. With the slogan, “Official babe uniform”, I was super excited!

Everything was so amazing, it’s a good job I get student discount!

Saturday OOTD

On Saturday, I wore a cropped mesh top with sequinned stars. I’m not the kind of person who would wear it with nothing underneath. I even considered wearing a vest top underneath but it was too warm!

I put it with a black faux leather skirt with buckles and a black velvet choker. The skirt is SO comfortable and is so soft it feels like real leather.

You can’t see it in this picture, but I wore wellies too as I didn’t know how muddy it was going to be at the festival!

Sunday OOTD

On Sunday, I was well and truly into the spirit of Download festival! I considered wearing my ripped jeans, but thought that I’d make the most of my faux leather skirt as there probably aren’t going to be many places I feel I can pull it off!

I put rips in my black Primark tights using my husband’s car keys. The tattoo choker that I wore was from ASOS a couple of years ago, but lots of shops still sell them.

Later in the day, I also accessorised with a black and white bandana that I used as a hairband.

The Nirvana t-shirt, as you may have guessed, was also from Missguided:

Heat Holders also kindly gifted me some of their socks for the festival. Fortunately, the weather was so hot that I didn’t need my feet to be any warmer! However, if the weather turns soon, which it’s sure to do, then these would be useful! I often get cold feet, so I’ll definitely be putting these to good use.

Heat Holders

It was great to have some fun with fashion, as I often just put on the same old thing. Many of my clothes I’ve been wearing year on year, so it was nice to have some new clothing.

Disclosure: 1. This post is NOT in collaboration with Missguided. I just really like them! 2. I was gifted two pairs of Heat Holders socks in exchange for mentioning them in a blog post.
