Sunday Review: Sassy Bloom Subscription Box (6 month old girl)

I heard of Sassy Bloom subscription boxes long before I found out I was pregnant. When I was offered the chance to review one, I thought I’d give it a go!

Sassy Bloom: An Overview

Sassy Bloom make subscription boxes for babies with 4-7 items in. They are suitable from pregnancy and are tailored for the age, stage of development and age of your child. Once they reach the age of 3 they do kids boxes, which are suitable until the age of 8. They’d make a wonderful gift for someone. As they’d arrive each month it would be a gift that would keep on giving!

What I received in my box

Here is a video of me unboxing our Sassy Bloom box:

Here is what the box contained and their estimated values:

  • Tilly Turtle (book) – found online for £6
  • Munchkin Flip & Tip Cup – found online for around £5
  • Bright Starts barbell rattle – found online for £4.16
  • Brother Max Catch and Fold bibs (2 pack) – found online for £6.99
  • Bright Starts Lights and Sounds FunPad – found online for £11.99

My thoughts on our box

As you can see from the list above, we received 5 items in our box. Each Sassy Bloom apparently has a minimum retail of £40 and can be as high as £85. Adding up the values of the box we received, it was worth around £34.14. The box was still value for money for what I paid and had a good variety. However, the value did fall almost £6 short of the minimum which was a little disappointing. Perhaps the recommended retail prices are higher for some items than they’re being sold for online, which has thrown things off?

I have contacted a lady at Sassy Bloom and am currently waiting for a response to this.

Autumn’s thoughts on our box

Tilly Turtle book

Autumn loves looking at books and she likes squeaky things. She also enjoys baths, so this book is great for her! The story is very simple, but I guess baby books don’t need to have that much of a plot!

Munchkin Flip & Tip Cup

We’ve tried Autumn with sippy cups a few times now, but to no avail. She’ll be 7 months old next week, so perhaps we’ll try this one in the next few days! It’s a different type to the ones we’ve been using, so perhaps she’ll get on better with this.

Bright Starts barbell rattle

This has quickly become a staple toy that we tend to take everywhere with us. It’s easy to clean and quite small so doesn’t take up much room in her changing back. It interests her enough to encourage her to crawl towards it. She loves shaking it, looking at the little beads and whacking it on the floor!

Brother Max Catch and Fold bibs (2 pack)

These bibs have been a life-saver already. They wash very well and the rubber part which poppers on is a brilliant idea! It catches all the stray bits of food and is easily washable. It also allows you to easily and hygienically transport the bibs if you’re going out. I may invest in more of these in the future.

Bright Starts Lights & Sounds FunPad

This is possibly Autumn’s most favourite thing of all from our Sassy Bloom box. She doesn’t seem to have worked out how to press the buttons herself yet. However, if we press them she smiles and loves the music! She often dances to it, as you can see in the video below. It lights up, which she enjoys watching, and she likes chewing on it too.

Disclosure: I received a Sassy Bloom subscription box at a discounted price in return for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Absolutely appalling system. I opted for the £10 off the first box to see what it was like. My little girl was 15 months old and received 2 shape sorters and 2 books, 1 of these books was for 3+ and she doesn’t know what to do with it and ripped the pages. I made a complaint as I didn’t want to receive another box as I didn’t believe them when they say they tailor make the box for the age. I gave them the option to refund me the box before sending it or that I would put my reviews online and they have opted for me to review them. I have today received the 2nd box which has a toy BBQ set for ages 3+, my little girl is now 16 months. This is a dangerous company to be dealing with as they are sending toys they say are suitable for the age of the child, and they are clearly not. It is a good job I have checked the ages as if I trusted the company at their word, my little girl could be playing with potentially dangerous toys. Stay clear.
