My first Mother’s Day

Yesterday I experienced my first Mother’s Day as a mum. I think this is a big milestone for any new mum and the day takes on a whole new meaning! I think once you become a mum, as long as you had a good relationship with your mum you appreciate her a lot more. As a mother, I also appreciate my body a lot more – it’s amazing what it does throughout pregnancy and labour.

I woke up late, thanks to the clocks going forwards and going to bed late with Autumn. When I woke up, Dave and Autumn were already awake. Dave insisted on giving me my cards and presents from him and Autumn before she started grizzling.

  • I had a HUGE card from Autumn with owls on the front. I love owls and collected them since I was 9 years old. The card was bigger than Autumn! Inside, Dave had got her to sign it which was very cute! He had trouble doing it, because she kept trying to eat the pen!
  • From Autumn and Dave I had a box of chocolates, (Terry’s chocolate orange segments), and a few pictures/wall decorations.
  • I had a beautiful decoration for the wall with a mummy and baby giraffe on the front!
  • I also had an engraved picture frame that said ‘My first Mother’s Day’. It made me laugh though; the only landscape photo Dave could find of Autumn and I was one of us both asleep on the sofa!

We went to my parents’ house for lunch with my parents, brother and both my Nans. I decided to take an almost complete break from blogging and social media for the day. It was nice to just relax with family.

As it was my first Mother’s Day, I had a card from my mum and presents from my Mum and Nan. My Nan gave me a lovely plant in a cute welly boot plant pot and my mum gave me a beautiful outfit for Autumn. It had a delicate blue and lilac floral pattern. She also got me some chocolate Lindt bunnies!

As one of their presents, I bought canvasses, paint and decorative flowers to make pictures with my family using our handprints. We had four generations of females’ handprints on one canvas, which is now sitting upon my mantlepiece.

Autumn also learned to dance yesterday, which was the best present of all! It’s so cute. Here she is this morning:

How was your Mother’s Day? I hope you had a good day!

  1. Awww bless her. We all love dancing here. Those presents are great too. Love the picture of you both asleep. That’s real life framed. #PostsFromTheHeart
