Sunday Review: Bo&Bel Teething Necklace

Sunday Review: Bo&Bel Teething Necklace

This Sunday I’m reviewing a hexagonal teething necklace from Bo&Bel. Autumn has been teething since around the time she turned 3 months old in December and at almost 6 months, she has now reached that age where everything within reach goes in her mouth! I’ve been crushing on Bo&Bel‘s teething jewellery for quite some time, so when the opportunity to arose to review a necklace I gladly accepted the opportunity!

I don’t think it’s possible to start a review of Bo&Bel‘s teething jewellery without discussing the colours and design first. They are clearly designed with great care to make sure that not only does the baby have some interesting shapes to feel and chew on, but the wearer can confidently wear them and feel stylish too. There are so many lovely colours that I found myself thinking “That would go with that cardigan…ooh and that would go with that dress!” just as I would when shopping for normal jewellery.

Here’s a screenshot from their website of just some of the wonderful variety of colours available:

There are different designs of necklaces with different shaped beads on too, so you’re not restricted to just the design above. There are even teething bangles and teething necklaces available in male-friendly designs for Dads too!

There is just so much choice when it comes to colour and design that I struggled to choose one. I opted for ‘Elizabeth’ in beige, grey and mint which I thought would go well with a grey cardigan I own. I thought it would also go quite nicely with my fuschia bangle.

Apparently, the style doesn’t stop at the jewellery itself, for when it arrived it was in a metallic bright pink padded envelope! The necklace was in a small cardboard box with Bo&Bel‘s logo on, enveloped in grey tissue paper. I know not everyone cares for nice packaging, but I personally love it when something arrives presented so well – it just adds to my excitement to receive a product!

Now it was time for the real critic to see what she thought – baby Autumn! Sitting on my lap, she tried to grab my finger to chew on. I gently gave her the necklace instead. She started to have a chew on some of the grey beads and seemed to greatly enjoy it. The hexagonal mint beads seem a little too large for her at the moment, as she tried to chew on them but it didn’t really seem to work for her. Perhaps she’ll enjoy the larger beads more as she grows! We have used it a few times now and she seems to really enjoy chewing on the grey beads as well as playing with them and tugging on the necklace (thankfully, it hasn’t broken and it hasn’t hurt me either!) You can put them in the fridge if teething is particularly troubling your baby. Thankfully Autumn hasn’t been too bad the last couple of weeks so I haven’t tried doing that yet, but I imagine that along with the smooth silicone it would be quite soothing.

I love the convenience of having a teething toy to hand and I don’t have to worry about it getting thrown on the floor. As well as this, I know it is safe for her to use as it’s made from 100% food grade silicone and meets EN71 regulations. The downside of silicone, of course, is that it can mark easily and fluff gets stuck to it quite frequently! I’ve not had any problems with marking yet though and fluff isn’t a huge issue – I just wipe it off or wash it with a little soap and water.

Pros:

  • A teething toy that is conveniently with you at all times and doesn’t get tossed onto the floor
  • Can be put in the fridge if teething is particularly troublesome
  • Washes easily with soap and water
  • Fantastic designs available
  • A wonderful range of colours available, you could probably find one to go with any outfit
  • 100% food grade silicone and meets EN71 regulations

Cons:

  • May mark quite easily
  • Fluff sticks to it quite easily and quickly

Disclosure: I was sent a Bo&Bel necklace in exchange for a review. This is an honest review of my true thoughts on this product and all opinions are my own.

Oh, I’ll have to keep these in mind for when my son is here! Babies tend to pull and grab everything a mama is wearing. I love that this necklace has a bit of style and color variations to choose from! I am completely eyeing the Honey necklace! Great review. Going to look into purchasing!

Gorgeous picure! I’ve wondered about the silicone teething jewelry I’ve been hearing about and it’s been great to read your experience with it. I think, given the opportunityarn I would probably get it (and actually use it!). I love that it’s a necklace! So convenient!

wow very stylish and practical too. I must admit I do like it when people make an effort with the packaging too I like the attention to detail. I had no idea about teething necklaces until I saw this so I have learnt something. They look really good.
